My building story

My name is Brant, I live in northern Idaho. I still have a day job to pay the bills, but I’m passionate about guitars - both playing and building them.

I started woodworking on small projects as a kid. Around 30, I got much more serious about it, specifically instrument making. I’m pretty much self taught, but have spent some time with folks who know what they are doing. I use a combination of traditional and modern methods to build my instruments.

At this point, building is just a hobby (or said another way, I’m a novice). It is a life long learning process for me - if you ask me about what I’m building, I’ll always say it’s not good enough. As a guitar player, I know what a good instrument feels like in my hands, and that’s what I strive for. My preferred aesthetic is simple, clean, organic and elegant. In the end, the instrument should sound good, feel good and look good.
